Directions From Vineyard Haven to Edgartown
Vineyard Haven Ferry to The Red Door Retreat
From the ferry boat turn left onto Water Street. Stay in the right lane and at the stop sign turn right onto Beach Street. Continue on Beach Street (one long block) in the center lane and bear left onto State Road.
Stay on State Road for approximately 2 blocks and turn left onto Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road. Continue on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road for approximately eight miles. At the second stop sign you will be at the “triangle,” where the road converges with the Beach Road from Oak Bluffs. The street name will change to Upper Main Street after this stop sign.
Continue on Upper Main (name will change to Main Street when road becomes one-way street) past the Stop and Shop on your left. Stay to the left of Cannonba ll Park and continue down Main Street until you reach North Water Street. (You will see a bank on either corner.)
Turn left and continue until you reach Morse Street (the third street on the left) where you will turn left. Turn left at the next street on your left, North Summer Street and go one short block to the Stop sign. This is Simpson’s Lane. Turn left and you will find #37 half way down the block on your left.
Directions From Oak Bluffs
Oak Bluffs Ferry to The Red Door Retreat
From the ferry boat turn left onto Beach Road. Continue on Beach Road to Edgartown (approximately 5 miles) When you arrive at the “triangle,” where the road converges with the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, the street name will change to Upper Main Street.
Continue on Upper Main Street (name will change to Main Street when road becomes a one-way street) go past the Stop and Shop on your left. Stay to the left of Cannonball Park and continue down Main Street until you reach North Water Street. (You will see a bank on either corner.)

Directions from Martha’s Vineyard Airport
Martha’s Vineyard Airport to The Red Door Retreat
Drive out of airport and turn left onto West Tisbury-Edgartown Road. Follow this road to the end. (There will be a park on your left.) This is Main Street, Edgartown. Turn right.
Continue down Main Street until you reach North Water Street. (You will see a bank on either corner.) Turn left and continue until you reach Morse Street (the third street on the left) where you will turn left. The Island is 25 miles Long and 11 miles wide.
Although there is public transportation and taxi service available,
we recommend that you bring your vehicle or rent one here on the island.
During the warm weather, there are a number of ferry services that will bring you to the island.
The Steamship Authority
The Steamship Authority has the only ferries that carry vehicles and departs from Woods Hole, MA.

Woods Hole, MA
The Steamship Authority
The Steamship Authority carries both vehicles and passengers. Vehicles need a reservation, while walk-on passengers do not. Vessels operate between Woods Hole and docks in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. The Steamship Authority operates year-round.
Falmouth, MA
The Island Queen
The Island Queen is a passenger-only ferry and operates seasonally. It travels between docks in Falmouth and Oak Bluffs Harbor. Reservations are not required.
Pied Piper
The Pied Piper is a passenger-only ferry operating seasonally.
It travels between docks in Falmouth and Edgartown Harbor. Reservations are suggested.
Hyannis, MA
Hy-Line
This ferry line operates passenger-only ferries seasonally. They offer both standard and fast ferries, traveling between Hyannis and Oak Bluffs Harbor. Reservations are not required for the standard ferry, but highly recommended for the high-speed ferry.
New Bedford, MA
New England Fast Ferry
New England Fast Ferry is a passenger-only ferry and operates from April through November. This ferry travels between New Bedford and docks in Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. Reservations are recommended.
Quonset Point, RI
Vineyard Ferry
Vineyard Ferry is a passenger-only fast ferry operating seasonally.
It travels between Quonset Point and Oak Bluffs
New York/New Jersey
SeaStreak
This ferry is passenger-only and only operates weekends only during the summer months. Reservations are required and dogs are not permitted.
